About This Tour
Land of Smile – A Journey through the Heart of Bangladesh. Discover Bangladesh in its truest form with "Land of Smile", a journey designed not just to show you places, but to connect you with the people who make this country extraordinary.
This 25-day journey is designed for travelers who want to experience Bangladesh beyond its major cities. From the busy streets and historic quarters of Dhaka to quiet weaving villages, ancient archaeological sites, rivers, tea gardens, forests, tribal communities, the Sundarbans and the beaches of Cox’s Bazar, the tour takes you across almost every part of the country.
The journey combines Bangladesh’s history, culture and everyday life with its natural landscapes. You will visit ancient Buddhist monasteries and Hindu temples, explore old mosques and palaces, see traditional saree, lungi, towel and mat weaving, cruise through rivers and floating markets, meet local communities, explore forests and tea gardens, and experience the fishing and village life that remain an important part of Bangladesh.
The route also includes some of Bangladesh’s most significant heritage destinations, including Mahasthangarh, Paharpur, Puthia, Bagerhat and Sonargaon, along with the Sundarbans, Sylhet, Sreemangal, Bandarban and Cox’s Bazar.
It is a long and varied journey, but that is exactly what makes it special. Rather than seeing Bangladesh through only a few famous attractions, you get the opportunity to experience the country through its people, landscapes, traditions, crafts, food, history and daily life.

Arrival in Dhaka
Arrive in Dhaka and transfer to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, there may be an opportunity for some initial sightseeing around the city. Overnight in Dhaka.
Dhaka City Sightseeing
After breakfast, explore some of Dhaka’s historic and cultural landmarks. Visit Karwan Bazar, Dhakeswari Temple, Lalbagh Fort, Curzon Hall, the Armenian Church, Shakhari Bazar, Pink Palace and Sadarghat. This first full day introduces you to the history, architecture and lively character of Bangladesh’s capital. Stay: Three Star Standard Hotel, Dhaka
Dhaka – Tangail
After breakfast, travel to the railway station and take the train to Tangail. After checking in, explore the local weaving traditions and rural lifestyle. Visit a Jacquard saree weaving area, see Shitol Pati weaving and observe the making of the famous Chom Chom sweet. Enjoy traditional Bangladeshi meals and experience village life. Tangail – Bogura
Travel towards Bogura, stopping at Belkuchi weaving village to see saree and lungi production. Continue to Pachalia Bazar to visit a local Gamcha towel weaving factory. Visit Hatikumrul Navaratna Temple, an 18th-century temple, before continuing to Bogura. Stay: Four star hotel, Bogura
Explore Bogura
Discover the historic and everyday life of Bogura. Visit a Grameen Bank microcredit programme focusing on women’s empowerment and explore one of the area’s major wholesale vegetable markets. Continue to Mahasthangarh, one of Bangladesh’s most important archaeological sites, along with its museum, Gobinda Bhita and Vasu Bihar. End the day with a visit to a local sweet yogurt factory. Bogura – Rangpur – Dinajpur
Drive towards Rangpur and visit Tajhat Zamindar Palace, built in the early 20th century. Explore the local town before continuing to Dinajpur for the night. Stay: Three star hotel, Dinajpur
Dinajpur – Joypurhat
Visit the magnificent Kantajew Temple, famous for its detailed terracotta decoration and 18th-century architecture. Continue to Ramsagar Dighi before driving towards Joypurhat. Along the way, observe activities around the Bangladesh-India border. Stay: Three star hotel, Joypurhat
Joypurhat – Paharpur – Rajshahi
Travel towards Rajshahi, stopping at Paharpur to explore the remains of its historic Buddhist monastery and archaeological museum. Continue to Naogaon to see the 15th-century Kushumba Mosque. In Rajshahi, visit a silk factory and finish the day watching the sunset over the Ganges. Stay: Three star hotel, Rajshahi
Rajshahi – Chapai Nawabganj – Rajshahi
Take a day trip to Chapai Nawabganj and explore its historic monuments, including Choto Sona Mosque, Tahakhana, Darasbari Mosque and Madrasa ruins, and Khaniadighi Mosque. Visit a local weaving village and mango gardens before returning to Rajshahi. Stay: Three star hotel, Rajshahi
Rajshahi – Puthia – Natore – Kushtia
Visit Puthia, known for its remarkable collection of historic terracotta temples and palace buildings. Continue to Natore to explore the Queen’s Palace and Uttara Gano Bhaban, also known as the King’s Palace. Continue to Kushtia for the night. Stay: Three star hotel, Kushtia
Kushtia – Barishal
Visit the shrine of Lalon Shah, one of Bengal’s most famous mystic poets, and experience the songs performed by his followers. Continue to Shelaidah to visit the house associated with Rabindranath Tagore. Travel onwards to Barishal, stopping at local markets along the way. Stay: Three star hotel, Barishal
Barishal – Banaripara – Khulna
Start early and travel to Banaripara, where you board a local engine boat to explore the floating market for several hours. Continue towards Khulna and check in to your hotel. Stay: Three star hotel, Khulna
Khulna – Sundarbans – Khulna
Drive to Mongla and board a local boat towards Chandpai fishermen’s village, located beside the Sundarbans. Continue to Karamjal Forest Office and explore the forest along its wooden trail. Climb the watchtower and look for wildlife such as monkeys, deer and crocodiles. Cruise back to Mongla and return to Khulna. Stay: Three star hotel, Khulna
Khulna – Bagerhat – Dhaka
Begin the day at a wholesale fish market and observe local fishing activities. Continue to Bagerhat, home to the historic Sixty Dome Mosque and other medieval mosques, including Singair, Ronobijoypur and Nine-Domed Mosque. Visit the shrine of Khan Jahan Ali before driving back to Dhaka across the Padma Bridge. Stay: Three star hotel, Dhaka
Dhaka – Sonargaon
Travel to Narayanganj and board a boat for a long river cruise along the Shitalakhya. Visit a traditional Jamdani saree weaving village and Murapara King’s Palace. Enjoy lunch on the boat while taking in the riverine scenery before continuing to Sonargaon. Stay: Three star hotel, Sonargaon
Sonargaon – Sylhet
Explore historic Sonargaon, one of Bengal’s old capitals. Visit the ruins of Panam City, the Folk Arts Museum and Baro Sardar Bari. Continue towards Sylhet, stopping at Banti Bazar and local markets along the way. Stay: Three star hotel, Sylhet
Sylhet – Jaflong – Tamabil – Sylhet
Travel to Jaflong and Tamabil near the Indian border. Enjoy views of the surrounding hills and waterfalls on the Indian side while observing local life and border activities. Return to Sylhet and visit the famous shrines of Shah Jalal and Shah Paran. Stay: Three star hotel, Sylhet
Sylhet – Sreemangal
Travel to Sreemangal, Bangladesh’s tea capital. Visit Lawachara Rain Forest and enjoy a forest walk before visiting a Khasia tribal village. Explore tea gardens and a Manipuri weaving village, then taste Sreemangal’s famous eight-layer tea. Spend the evening exploring the local town. Stay: Three star hotel, Sreemangal
Sreemangal – Satchari – Cumilla
Drive towards Cumilla, stopping at Satchari Rain Forest for a jungle hike. Visit a Tripura tribal village within the forest before continuing to the Commonwealth World War II Cemetery at Mainamati. Arrive in Cumilla and check in. Stay: Three star hotel, Cumilla
Cumilla – Chittagong
Explore the Mainamati archaeological area, including Salban Vihara, its museum and the new Salban Vihara. Continue to Chittagong and check in to your hotel. Stay: Five star hotel, Chittagong
Chittagong – Bandarban
Visit Chittagong’s wholesale fish market, followed by the shrine of Bayezid Bostami and the Ethnological Museum. After lunch, drive into the hills towards Bandarban. Check in and spend the late afternoon exploring the local town. Stay: Three star hotel, Bandarban
Bandarban – Chimbuk – Nilgiri - Bandarban
Enjoy a full-day journey through the hills around Bandarban by four-wheel-drive vehicle. Visit Chimbuk and Nilgiri, enjoy the viewpoint at Nilachal overlooking Bandarban town, and stop at Meghla Lake. Visit the Golden Temple and explore the daily tribal market at Balaghata before returning to Bandarban. Stay: Three star hotel, Bandarban
Bandarban – Cox’s Bazar
Drive towards Cox’s Bazar, stopping to see the 100-foot Sleeping Buddha statue and temple. Continue to Cox’s Bazar and check in to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax and enjoy the beach. Stay: Four star hotel, Bandarban
Cox’s Bazar – Maheshkhali – Dhaka
Start the day at the large wholesale sea-fish market and observe the activities of local fishermen. Take a local speedboat to Maheshkhali, Bangladesh’s only hilly island. Visit the hilltop Adinath Temple, a Buddhist temple and surrounding local communities before returning to Cox’s Bazar. After lunch, transfer to the airport for your flight to Dhaka. Departure
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward flight. This marks the end of your 25-day journey through Bangladesh.
